Hello super-coach Alois! I’ve been thinking about changing the rubber on my paddle. However, the paddle that I own (a Stiga Raptor) came pre-assembled, and I’ve heard that you can’t replace the rubber on preassembled paddles. I love my paddle and I want to see if I could upgrade the rubber. Here is the main question: Can I replace the rubber on my Raptor, or do I need to buy a new blade and put rubber on it? Would I damage my paddle if I attempt to take the rubber off? Thanks!

Hi Ethan,

I have found with a lot of those types of rackets you can change the rubber effectively.  They are a reasonable.  The main thing is to make sure you are really careful taking the old rubber off so as not to damage the wood.  Start slowly and work your way around the racket slowly lifting the rubber.  You can use a solvent to help to get the rubber off.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
