Hi Alois/Jeff,

Its been awhile. Hope you guys are doing well.

A lot of times forums describe a long pimpled rubber as having a high deception; or high spin variation.

What is the meaning of this ? Other characteristics ie spin reversal, control, speed are self explanatory. But to what exactly does spin variation/deception refer ?

Ps- I use tibhar grass dtecs pretty efficiently myself, and it is said to have high deception.

Hi Azhar,

I think that deception is a misnomer.  In fact it does the same thing consistently depending on what type of spin and ball comes in to it.

The rubber is not deceptive at all.

The Grass dTechs is a good rubber and has good reversal of spin.  That is when you play to it with topspin it will go back with a lot of backspin.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
