Hi Wiehann,

Glad you have subscribed  through our website.

To practice changing from forehand to backhand practice a lot of switching exercises.  you can do this from several positions.  Some exampls are the simple switch from the middle of your forehand to the middle of your backhand.  Gte a practice partner to place the ball into those two spots consistently.  you practice playing these two strokes consistently.  Aim for at least 10 balls per rally. Then you can also practice the switching where the ball i sonly placed on your backhand corner and you alternate one forehand and one backhand hit.

The main thing is to practice this moveemnt many times and consistently.

We have just released the PingSkills Training Secrets Revealed DVD which will show you these and many other drills that you can use to practice your switching including the Triple Switch Drill. If you can get yourself a copy I am sure it will help your practice and improvement.

To decide on when to smash you should use a guide of how high the ball is.  Usually around shoulder height and higher is OK for smashing.  Take a look at out lesson on The Forehand Smash.

#34 - Chopping, a last defence

Unless you are a defender you won't be practicing chopping regularly. However the chop is a great way to stay in the point if you are out of position and is also a difficult variation for your opponent to deal with.
