Strategy
Hey Alois,
I myself am an attacking player. But internationally (in the ITTF) are there any major defensive players, besides the obvious Joo Se-Hyuk. I know in Chinese table tennis schools their generally taught to be more offensive players. And also, since Joo Se Hyuk is an shakehand player, how well do defensive players do with penhold grip, with the extra spin available.
Hi Dhruv,
There have been very few top class defensive penhold players. The backhand chop is harder with the penhold grip.
You are better off playing with the shakehand grip if you want to be a defender. If you enjoy defensive play then try it. If you can reach Joo Se Hyuk's level then you would be pleased I am sure.
