Strokes
Hi Alois,
Can u tell me the difference between no spin push and backspin push ?
I got some trouble to judging those kind of spins. When I played doubles with top player in my team, I counter opponent's push with topspin off backspin stroke. As a result, the ball went off the table. And then my partner said that it was a dead ball and he said that i don't need to open my racket to allow for the backspin coz the ball has no spin.
So my next question is, how to adjust the bat angle when facing a deadball push ?
Thanks
Hi Ernest,
When they push with no spin you can close the angle of your racket so that the ball doesn’t go too high. The other thing is to still brush the ball but in a more downward action to keep it lower.
The other option is to use the Flick stroke if there is no spin on the push.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
