Strokes
My opponent can spin the ball in almost all directions any where on the table. What should be my standing position in this case also what could i apply to my game in order to improve.
Hi Preetish,
Stay central to the table. The best position is where you can just touch the table when you are in the Basic Stance. Then put your bat on the middle line. This should put you into a good position to reach the whole table with just one step in any direction.
To receive spin, think about using your bat like a rudder to steer the ball back. We have a series on Receiving Secrets that will help a lot in this area.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
