Strokes
I am an Indian and my style is penhold (it is rare here).I learned playing watching videos of Chinese players i.e. ma lin, wang hao etc.
Playing since 3 years and my skill level is good/average, not an amateur anymore.
I face problem against back spin players. They are skill wise low, quite defensive and win points not by smash but by opponent's mistake. They hardly hit smash. Their backspin return bounces 4-6 cm above net and far from net (close to table but not like edge) and when i try to smash it by loop, most of time i find myself ball hitting the top portion of net and he takes away the point. when i try to loop more , it goes out of table of opponents. Is it due to my poor quality rubber or wrong technique?
I dont face this problem against aggressive players who push or do little backspin. i loop and smash it.
Also recommend me a standard quality paddle to play against choppers (not too much costly :))

Hi Nitesh,
Firstly to look at the stroke. The stroke you want to play is the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin. Take a look at the lesson and try to perfect the technique. You also have to watch the ball to see how much spin they are putting on each shot. They will vary this during the match.
Also take a look at this previous blog on Playing against Defenders for some good tips on strategies to use when playing these types of players.
As far as a bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V as a good racket. As long as yo have a rubber with good grip you will be able to play the important strokes to be able to play defenders.

It this bat fine for a penholder, I hope the neck is not wide as my grip is deep like normal pen-holders.
Wider neck gives pain to my hand. for backhand i use RPH grip and traditional both as per height/speed of the ball.
Thank you very much for the help sir.
Hi Nitesh,
It has a reasonably narrow handle.
