Distance from table

I am a gud player.......i.e i play forehand and backhand topspins and do lobs as well........So I want to know how far behind the table should I stand during service recieving, attacking etx. so that i get to dominate the point and the game???

Hi Hans,

When serving you should try to be really close to the table so that they have less time to be able to see the spin and placement.

In general you should try to be as close to the table as you can to give the opponent less time.  If the other player is attacking then you may need to move back from the table.  Always try to maintain the attacking position.

Tactics Against Penhold Players

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
