Strokes
Hi, I sometimes feel that I hit the ball too early, and I wonder if going a little further from the table would help me hitting the ball at the right time. At least it should help me by losing some effect from the opponent.
Could you give me some hints on where should I play?
Thank you
Hi Carlos,
FInd a distance that is comfortable for you. Everyone has their own preference. If you find you are being rushed then step a little further away from the table. If you find that you have a lot of time then challenge yourself by stepping in a bit closer.
Take a look at our lesson on the Basic Stance to get some general tips on where to stand.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
