Hi,i have a question, i have read your strategy playing against long pimples, and it was very very useful to the point that the player that always win against me, start to lose more and more and when i get comfortable playing against him (because your advices) he cant win against me, so he asked me to play together in doubles, but in that situation i cant use the same strategy because every time he hits the ball with his long pimple i know how the rival must have to play the ball, but i dont know what i must have to do when the ball return to me, i dont know if you can help me thanks.

Hi Luis,

This is another learning experience.

You just need to watch what your doubles opponents are doing.  YOu will get the same types of balls from their bats as you usually would.  It is likely that you are being confused with the response they are giving from your partners strokes because they are different to the responses you would get from your own similar strokes.

Try to just watch your opponent and see what is coning your way.  It may take time but you will soon get used to this part of the game as well.

It is great to know that you adapted and learned how to play against the long pimples so well.

thanks coach, but what i need to know, is the next,  if a make a backspin serve then the opponent make another backspin return then my partner uses his long pimples rubber i know he returns a topspin ball, but i realize that the other person just smash his return and i dont have idea how i have to attack that mini smash or a strong smash because i get lost in the process of my mind with the effect that the ball have. thanks i hope you understand my question now.

Your partner needs to consider making the pimple push more effective.  You shouldn't be looking at returning smashes but preventing them from happening.

If you first push or shot is more effective it will give your opponent less time to place the ball well to your partner. This will give your partner a better chance to make an attacking stroke or a more effective stroke and keep your opponents under pressure instead of the opposite.
