Mental Preparation
Hmm.... Here's an interesting question I thought of. Does your team supporting make you play better or make you play worse? Sometimes I feel like supporting puts quite a lot of pressure on me.
Hi Jasper,
I think this is a really interesting question. I think everybody is different sometimes players play much better when they are being watched by friends and supporters. However I do feel that sometimes players feel the pressure of their friends and supporters watching them and start to take on their perceived expectations.
The important part is to just think about every point and try to play each point the same. You need to start this during your training sessions as well so during your training sessions try to play every point like they are the same. This isn’t always easy so it does take a lot of practice. The more time you spend in training focusing on every point the easier it will be when it gets to a match situation no matter who is watching.

Ahh I see... My tournament day is on next year early February if everything goes well. And since it is a team event involving 8-12 team members, hopefully I don't get too pressured by teammates

It is only what perception you have in your own head. If you don't let that pressure in then it won't be there.

Speaking of support, which players do you support in the men's and women's world Cup?

The one coming this November

In the Men's I would like to see the youngsters Lin Yun Ju and Harimoto really break through. In the Women's I like Chen Meng's chances and also like her game.
