Hi Alois,

My parents think that table tennis games do not require much energy. I could not convince them otherwise. I told them about this website, so they agreed that's why this question.

Do you think that table tennis compares in energy consumption to other games like badminton, long tennis etc. I know that it depends on what the skill level someone has on each type of game. But considering a standard professional game of each, do you think that playing table tennis will not be as energy consuming as that of those other games.

I believe that table tennis is at least equal, if not more energy draining. Please share your thoughts.

Thanks.

Hi Chandrachur,

Table Tennis uses different energy systems to say Tennis which is a bit more aerobic.  Table Tennis tends to use more Anaerobic systems... short sharp bursts of energy.  However over a long tournament day it can also use aerobic energy.

It also requires flexibility power and strength to be able to move well enough to play at a higher level.
