Strokes and Technique
Hi Alois.
The pushes in the pingskills videos have a lot less backspin than how we push, here in India. We push the short ball, with the bat brushing the ball from underneath, adding a lot more backspin than what a pingskills push would normally give us. This brushing is so intense that it is extremely difficult to attack the ball, be it a topspin, or a flick.
What we do is, we just push it back the same way, adding some additional backspin, preventing the opponent from attacking, This leads to long push rallies, which is quite boring, and also, does not suit my style of offensive play.
Please suggest a way to avoid these long push rallies, and a way to get the chance to attack the ball.
Thanks
Hi Nagaraj,
We show you more of the basics but as the backspin gets more you need to be able to lift the ball more.
When you are playing a long ball and you can topspin, then the topspin needs to be more vertical. You also need more racket head speed to be able to counter the backspin on the ball. The stroke will look more like the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin.
If the ball is shorter then you can push the ball. Again with more backspin, open the angle of your racket. If you are trying to make a flick again you need more racket head speed and a more vertical stroke.

Nagraj I also have the same playing style and as you said in India we play long push rallies and they are so boring I find another way to avoid it. I give a bit less backspin to my opponent on his forehand and we noticed that when we open a push rally the topspin which we play has slightly has less backspin so it is easy to block we you are in the position but I use to topspin or smash my opponent ball when he opens a push rally.

I means topspin in that 3rd line instead of backspin
