Strokes
I train with a very good attacker and he has a deadly unexpectable backhand....he kinda loops it with the backhand and it fast to counter. can u give tips to return that backhand low? Riwaz from Nepal
Hi Riwaz,
The best stroke to use in this situation is the Backhand Block. This will allow you to control the ball back onto the table and get it low.
The block uses a soft hand and you can angle the bat over the ball to keep the ball down. If you find that the ball is going too high, just turn your bat forward more to keep the ball down.
Once you've mastered the start and finish position of the forehand topspin, you can start to focus on finer details. In this video we talk about the position of your legs, weight transfer, varying the finish position, incorporating footwork, the use of your wrist, and the angle of your bat for the stroke.
