Equipment
does fat damage the rubber of the racket ? (my friend was eating fried potatoes ''ruffles" then he went to play and put his dirty fingers on the rubber ) how do I clean it ? Just a damp cloth?
Hi Pedro,
If there is fat or grease on the rubber you can use a weak solution of detergent on the rubber to cut through the grease. Then just wipe it over and dry the rubber.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Should I use a regular detergent or a neutral detergent?
How about the rubber cleaner is that better to clean the rubber? Does that make any difference?
A rubber clearer could help in this situation.

Pedro, I'd try the rubber cleaner first. I have tried detergent and didn't rinse it thoroughly enough afterward. It left a residue I cannot remove and the surface of the rubber is now 'milky'. If the cleaner doesn't work and you do try the weak detergent (use pure soap) and warm water solution, rinse immediately with a clean damp cloth several times to ensure you remove all traces of the soap. Then dry.
Oh, and tell your friend greasy fingers and TT bats don't go hand-in-hand. :)
