Finding crack in ball

Equipment

Hey pingskills

how do I know if my ball is cracked? I've held it up to a bright lamp light and can see some lines/creases on it and when I press on that area it's softer than the other parts with it. I don't know what a cracked ball sounds like so I can't easily tell the difference. The balls I use is DHS 3 star poly balls.

thanks a lot, you guys have taught me heaps about this awesome sport.

Hi Bryan,

The ball does make a slightly sharper sound.  It is something that you will start to recognise after a while.

If it is not bothering you then continue to play with the ball until you notice something.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
