Following the ball

Strokes

During play should the player try to follow the ball right into the racquet on every shot or just try to anticipate where the racquet and the ball will make contact and keep eye contact toward the opponent?

Hi Silas,

Welcome back...

You tend to watch the ball till it is about 30cm away from your bat and then rely on the tracking and memory for flight paths.  It is difficult to watch it all the way into your bat.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
