i have playing for about 5 months at work. although i dont play that much i do play everyday for a while i would like to know if they are any tips you could to improve my foot work to help developmy forehand and back hand returns i always want to stay in front if the ball i cand smash it or return i just slice it. thanks and i look forward to your advice
Hi Jon,
Firts of all think about your balance. make sure you have your feet quite wide and your knees bent well.
Stay quite square on to the table so that it is easy to play both forehand and backhand. Don't move too much initially, especially keep your torso still.
Then do the basic strokes well. Watch the Forehand abd Backhand videos and try to master them. Take particualr notice of the starting and finishing position of the strokes.
I suppose the main thing that is see is too much movement with the body when players are starting off. Stillness is actually better.
Try this all out and keep going.
