Equipment
Hi coach,
I have been following your videos for a long time. I have been playing for about 4 years now. I have a big forehand smash, decent to tough service on both flanks, and mainly use my backhand to cut or block and smash through the line when possible. I have been using tibhar genius on the forehand and butterfly sriver on backhand. I am planning to switch genius to backhand and get a new forehand rubber. Any suggestions? Would you recommend doing what I want to with the genius rubber?
Thanks in advance
Hi Abhijith,
I would try the Genius on the backhand in training. Just switch the bat over and give it a go.
For a forehand rubber I guess you are looking for something a little faster now. There are literally hundreds of options out there. We use Rakza 7 which is a bit faster. Others may have some ideas for you as well. Even look around at what other players you know are using and ask the if you can try their rubber. That is really the only way to be reasonably confident.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
