I have been trying the hook in your last video and i just can't seem to get it to work and then when i try to lower my wrist more i just miss.  I also have this problem to a lesser extent on thpposite spin.

Do you have any tips i could use?

Hi Michael,

Try starting the first few balls of the rally with a straight topspin and slowly drop your wrist with each shot.

Do it really slowy to statr with till you get the feel of hitting the ball.  Don't worry too much about getting the ball on the table, just see if you can hit it with sidespin first.

Remember the sidespin topspin is a low percentage shot so you shouldn't expect perfection straight away with it.

What do you mean by "Low-percentage"?

By low percentage, we mean that you are more likely to miss the table.

The sidespin topspin is less reliable than the straight topspin. This is because there is usually less topspin to make the ball dip on to the table.

So if I have understood all that then I should only use my regular topspin in games until I am comfortable using the sidespin but for the time being I should just do the sidespin in practice.
