Training
Hi Alois and Jeff, i was wondering how can i get less angry and more consistent on my strokes?. Because when i lose a lot of balls or make a lot of errors i get angry and lose consistency. Especially my forehand topspin. And another question is when should i hit the ball on my topspin stroke ? like i know i can hit when it's falling or bouncing high or when its bounced high. But like when the ball is coming long at what moment should i hit it?
Thanks for your answer! Oh and im very happy with my robot ![]()
Hi George,
I am glad that you are enjoying your robot.
When you are playing, try to understand that making mistakes are the best thing for your learning. You are exploring the possibilities. If you never made a mistake you would also never improve because you don't know how far you can push things.
Try to focus on remaining calm and using your practice time to learn.
If the ball is coming long, it is more a matter of you getting yourself into position to hit the ball correctly. It doesn't matter where it is your position is the important thing. Move your feet and body into position so that you are balanced to hit the ball.
Most drills involve one person performing the exercise and the other placing the ball as required by the exercise. We call this person placing the ball the controller. When you are acting as the controller it is a great opportunity to practice your blocking and concentration. As blocking is an important part of the game you should be 100% focused at this time. You also owe it to your training partner to be blocking effectively so they get the most from their exercise.
