I just got a rubber paddle recently. I've been trying to do the reverse pendulum and pendulum sreves. I'm getting very frustated because whenever I try doing the serve by hitting it on my side and letting it bounce on the other person's side, it has no spin; it bounces on the other side normally with no kind of spin whatsoever. However, when I hit against the wall without the table, I can seem to get backspin on the ball, but not sidespin. Can you help me without telling me to get the Serving Secrets Revealed DVD please? Can you give me tips on how to be able to serve the pendelum and reverse pendelum serves and then how I can practice on making those serves even better? Thanks again, your best friend, Bman489

Hi,

The main thing I can hear is that when you are at the table you are not swinging freely.  If you can put the backspin on the ball away from the table, then the process is OK.

Try to relate to the freedom you have in yourswing when you are hitting the ball away from the table and then translate that into when you are at the table.  Often, because the table is in the way or because we become tighter because we are aiming at the table, the action of the serve tightens up.

Keep going back to hitting the ball away form the table and then back to the table.  Eventually it will come.
