Hi Alois, After xu xin retires from playing table tennis, do you think there will be any more penholders reaching the top level?

Hi Jasper,

This is a good question.

I don't think there will be a lot.  There don't seem to be a lot coming through even in the Chinese ranks.

I think I have read somewhere that there is a rule in China that National team must contain one penholder. I am not sure if it is true though

I did see though that there is a 15 year old French player that made it through qualifying and reached the second round of the WTT event in Slovenia who is using penhold. He beat Chuan Chih-Yuan.
