Strategy
Dear Alois and Jeff,
I love the videos you've made, however I can't seem to find any videos that provide guidance for doubles play. I understand you may not be as proficient in doubles as you are in singles, but do you have any tactical tips and general strategies that I can apply during a doubles match?
Best Regards,
Stefan Arak
Hi Stefan,
We haven't made any doubles videos as yet. It is an idea for us for the future.
We do have a few previous Ask the Coach questions on the topic. Just type in 'Doubles Tactics' into the search box at the top of the Ask the Coach page to see them.

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
