Equipment
hi coach,
in cricket, there is a concept of knocking the bat with the ball (playing a few shots or just tossing the ball on the bat) this is called knocking as you know and it helps the bat get match ready the wood etc.
Is the same true for TT as well, do you need to play with your bat for a while before the rubber gets match ready... this is beyond the thing about getting used to your instrument in terms of weight, rubber speed, it is more about the ball hitting the bat helping the bat and rubber getting more ready and better ....
is this true for TT bats?
regards,
Hi Manish,
No this is not true for Table Tennis bats. As you said though it is still important to get used to the bat yourself but the bat is ready to go.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
