Serving
Coaches,
What serve is suitable for third ball attacking? How to do it and where to put the ball?
Hi Patrick,
Any serve can be good for 3rd ball if your opponent doesn't read it properly.
It is a matter of finding the serve that will give you the best opportunity.
As a general rule if you can do a no spin or topspin serve that your opponent doesn't like then you will get an easier ball. But if you can do a good backspin serve that they lift too high because they misread the spin then it too can be good.
WIth the placement, the same applies. It is just a matter of finding the place with that particular serve that the player at the end of the table finds difficult.
Search in the first few points or the first game for these serves and placements that are going to trouble your opponent.
