Grip Change

I use a 'deep shake hand' grip for 2 years and had a very good back hand, medium forehand and good consistency.

I was recently told that if I would use a 'shallow shake hand' grip would improve my game, specially on the forehand stroke and spin.

I tried for several weeks, training with a robot and found that I do have better spin on the forehand but my back hand went to hell so has my consistency on all strokes but I get more spin.

I am trying to get back to my old deep grip but cant find it.  I am always adjusting it, even during play.

Overall Im stuck.  Is the shallow grip better?

Tough question I know but any help would be appreciated.  I just bought your dvd 3 combo hoping that would help too.

Thanks in advance

Hi Yvan,

This is totally a matter of preference.  There have been great players using both versions of the grip.

Allow yourself to adjust back to the shallow grip if that is what you want.  It may take time, but the more you stress about it the worse it will get.

As you stated, if both are good, then it is a question of preference.  To keep the consistency,  I will try to incorporate the feelings of relaxation from the shallow grip and down wrist to a middle range deep grip.

I had a bit of success in the last 2 days with these thoughts.  I appreciate the tip and will keep it as a goal to achieve.

Thanks
