Hello Jeff,

First of all I appreciate all your efforts and prompt responses.

I am right handed player with shake hand grip. I have noticed that initially I hold bat very close to start of rubber and handle. When game begins and I play some forehand backhand combination(switching) I lost orginal position where I hold racket initially and my hand moves automaticaly down towards handle. This doesn't make lot impact on my game but I am afraid if I cant hit flicks and some straight smashes with confidence.

What i need to focus on and how I can maintain my initial grip position. I am not sure if any body else is having same type of problem or you heard such problem?

Thanks,

Hi Rajesh,

This is a common problem.  One solution that you can use during training is to put a coin under your index finger.  If your grip changes the coin will drop.  This will keep your focus on having the correct grip throughout the rally.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
