Strategy
Hi Alois,
In about a fortnight, I'm playing in a fun tournament where I am entering Singles, Doubles, Hardbat Singles, and Wrong Hand Singles.
I will send a video through to you of me playing with a hardbat and with my left hand. I was just wondering if you could give me any tips, tactics, or techniques on how to play with a hardbat and with my left hand.
With hardbats, I've found that low, fast, flat blocks and counterdrives work for me. With my left hand, I do have my antispin which I can use (I feel it'll be even more effective when playing in the non-dominant hand singles).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe.
Hi Joe,
I think with the hardball try to keep the ball on the table consistently. It is difficult for your opponent to attack with a hard bat so consistency will win the day.
The anti-spin will be good for the wrong hand. Again, it is about putting a few balls on the table because you opponent won't be as good at doing that.
In this video we will discuss the differences between Inverted and short pimple rubbers. We will also cover the advantages and disadvantages of short pimple rubbers. Some of the advantages are that the ball travels lower and flatter over the net and that having one rubber short pimple and one rubber inverted provides variety making it more difficult for your opponent.
