Equipment
hi,
I would like to know you opinions on whats good and bad with heavy or light rackets with the both rubbers glued on both sides.
I used to use Dhs Hurricane 3 neo on my forhand but i switched to Xiom Tau rubber that plays about the same but is faster and more bouncy. It is almost as tacky too. But anyways... when i switch i noticed my equipment became heavier, probably because Xiom Tau is a Tensor. Now both of my rubbers are tensors and from Xiom. Xiom Tau and Sigma Euro and my Butterfly innerforce ALC weighs 89g. A uncut Xiom Tau weighs about 74g, thats heavy.
What i was thinking was that: ok, my equipment is heavier. That means that it will force me to give more power when hitting but it could slow down my reaction movement since the racket is heavier.
When i used a lighter racket, i liked it but when i switched to a heavier equipment i liked it more. With the lighter racket your movement will be faster with your reaction.
So back with my heavy racket im training with a robot that shoots balls at random spots on the table. And sometimes when the ball was shot on my BH side i sometimes move too slow with my wrist so the ball hits the Edge of the bat and flies up. but Forhand reaction movement is almost the same.
This sometimes leaves me hanging and thinking if i should go for a lighter racket or keep training with a heavy one.
Hi Jayce,
The weight of a racket is always a matter of personal preference. I like a lighter racket for the reason you described at the end. I like to be able to move my racket fast to get into position.
The heavier racket also takes longer to stop at the end of a shot. However, some players like a heavier racket because they feel like they are able to generate more speed and power.
