I am a novice table teenis player. in my country, India, there is a lot of importance given to all aspects of the game, but service is not payed much attention to. I have picked up various services on my own (a bit of youtube video-watching helped a ton!)

But the fast long service has eluded me for months now. PLease help me with this aspect of service in the wonderful game of Table Tennis.

I currently use a GKI Eurostar - Equivalent to a Butterfly Wakaba Racket.

Please help!!!!!! I am really grateful of you

Cheers, and have a good day!

Hi Satej,

It is great to hear you are working on your serve. It is a crucial aspect in the game of Table Tennis.

The key to the fast long service is simply hitting the ball fast. As with all serves it takes a lot of time to master so make sure you try to practice your serving as often as possible.

Take a look at our video on the placement of the serve and watch how Alois hits the fast long serve.

The important things to focus on is where the ball bounces. You want the ball to bounce close to your edge of the table. This gives the ball the biggest opportunity to clear the net and still land on the table. If the ball bounces to close to the net then you will either hit the net or it will need to bounce up at a steep angle to clear the net and will likely sail off the end of the table if the ball is travelling fast.

Please give these few tips a try and let us know how you get on.

And as a last tip, you could always purchase a copy of Serving Secrets Revealed to help you improve your serve.
