Any advice on how to deal with a hardbat player who moves very quickly and has an excellent blocking game.

Hi Bert,

When your opponent has a good blocking game the key is to use variation.

Often these players enjoy speed coming at them but don't really like the slower spinning ball.  They also may find it more difficult when you vary the speed of the ball.  Try to work out which is their better blocking side.  Then play more balls to the weaker side.

Because they are using a hard bat, it may be more difficult for them to attack.  If that is the case be patient, and wait for the right ball to attack fast.  You don't need to be as accurate and tight with your pushes. They may not be as good against backspin so don't be afraid to wait to attack by using short pushing or even pushing the ball fast with plenty of backspin.

Slow down the pace of the ball, use spin both backspin and topspin and then wait for your opportunities.
