Hello. This one guy that I played, he returned all of my smashes...well almost. Even if I hit it hard, almost as hard as I can, he returns it. Is there any technique in combating this type of play. I posted another question here about returning backspin, you pointed me to one of your videos, it worked miracles, that was great quality advice that you gave me and now my game has noticeably improved, thanks for that. If there is a way I can combat this, please let me know, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I look forward to a reply.

Hi Rahul,

You can try to play some softer smashes to bring them closer to the table and then when they are closer you can hit the ball harder to more effect.

thats what i was thinking. smash then dropshot, then smash again. etc. bring em in close then smash when they are close so harder to defend.

Well. its as simply as this, think about aiming more to the side, for example: when u first hit one smash and he returns it, then play it more to the side, and not always to the middle. A shot which is well placed is better than ur fastest shot, which goes into his racket.
