The main thing is to be able to place the ball well and try to make the first attack yourself.
Keeping the ball low is the first thing to think about. This makes it more difficult for him to attack. Then also think about the direction of your placement. Try to go to the side he is less comfortable attacking with.
Playing shorter, closer to the net and low can also help to stop the attack.
