How to chop or block a sidespin

Hi , i Am a defensive player and when i was in a tournament i played with a guy that sidespin all my chops!!!!!!! i lose :( for a lot. But i am triying to play to him again :).... but well can you tell me how to block or chop that heavy sidespin.

Hi Jose,

This can be a difficult ball to play.  The sidespin ball doesn't have as much topspin so you need to lift your return more than you normally would against a topspin stroke.  You also need to allow for the sidespin by angling your bat to the left or right depending on the type of sidespin they are playing.  If it is a forehand sidespin from a right hander you will need to angle your bat to your right to allow for this sidespin.

Apart form that the principles of your chop and block are the same.

:O.... Thanks..... i will aplicate it in the next tournament.

And one question.... i will put large pips in mi backhand for choping out the table and chop better the topspin... is good?

The long pimples is good for chopping on the backhand but it will take a little getting used to.
