Hi

I have problem with the heavy backhand from my competitor to the area between my body and my forhand ...

i try to hit forhand from there...but i can not move  as fast as ball come to me...the result is , my ball can not pass the net....or does not have enough power...so the next ball from my competitor is harder than previous one!

How can i take care of this problem?

tnx alot and sorry for my bad english

Hi Javad,

This can be a difficult area to cover.  If the ball is coming really fast you can just move your body rather than your feet.

You need to start with a good wide base.  So have your legs quite wide apart.  This will allow you to shift your weight to the left and still be balanced.  Then from this position you can make a relatively good topspin stroke.

If the ball is slightly to the left of that position you can do the same with the backhand topspin.

This is obviously not the ideal stroke to play but if you are caught out with time then it is a good compromise.

Take a look at our lesson on the Basic Stance.
