How to deal with faulty services

Hi Alois, Jeff,

I spend a serious amount of time learning some variety of tt services. But I noticed when I play older higher level players, they don't (always) obey the service rules. Some examples:

  • They block the view with their toss hand.
  • The toss is non-existent.
  • Hiding the ball or throwing it backwards

It's very frustrating and not always easy to say something about it, because the referee, is a) you or him b) a clubmate or an other player. Do you have some tips that will not get me ostracized out of this small community of players?

Hi Lorenzo,

This is always a problem in Table Tennis because as you say, a lot of the time you are umpiring for friends.

How would others deal with this?
