Hi Santosh,

Playing more of these tournaments will be good for you.  It sounds like there is a good level of ability at them.

Work first on skills and keep focusing on improving.  Then go back and play more of these tournaments and see how you go.

Tactics Against Penhold Players

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.

Hi Santosh,

Firstly to think about the opponent you will be playing and try to remember his strengths and weaknesses.  Then I would spend a lot of time practicing serves.  Try to get more spin on them.  Which serves you use will depend on your opponent.  Try to find one they don't read well and one that will get the ball up higher for you.  Experiment over the next month and you will start to improve your serves.
