Strategy
Dear PingSkills,
I recently got into a club in s'pore, and i didn't except the player in the club to be so good. Most of them are using Medium Pimpled rubber. Which i think that can be the king of the world, i would like to ask u if u could give me some match strategys to play against this kind of players.
Hi Dave,
It's great you have joined a club. This is a great way to expose yourself to more table tennis and to improve your game.
When playing against medium pimples, some good strategies are to play some high spinny loops. You don't have to always play fast against them.
Watch this video where Alois and I commentate on a game between Simon Gerada and Miao Miao from the PingSkills Classic in 2011. Miao Miao uses medium pimples on her backhand.
In this video we will discuss the differences between Inverted and short pimple rubbers. We will also cover the advantages and disadvantages of short pimple rubbers. Some of the advantages are that the ball travels lower and flatter over the net and that having one rubber short pimple and one rubber inverted provides variety making it more difficult for your opponent.
