Hi Ali,

I find the easiest way is to use the Pendulum serve to get some sidespin on the serve.

Stand side onto the table in your backhand corner.  Then raise your elbow high to use just your forearm to swing down like a pendulum. When you come through with the bat try to get a thin brushing action on the ball.  This will get some good sidespin on the ball.

If you can, get the Serving Secrets Revealed DVD.  This will show you this in detail and a lot more serves as well.
