How to play with soft rubber (FH)

Equipment

I just switched from a medium-hard rubber (Yasaka Rakza 9) to a soft one (Calibra LT Sound) for my FH, mainly to reduce the paddle weight a bit. Today was my first day using it, but it feels quite weird. Do you have any tips or general guidelines for playing with soft rubbers? I'm using a OFF/OFF- 7-ply wood blade with medium flex (Yasaka Hinoki Leo 7). Thanks a bunch!

Hi Duc,

Try letting the ball sink into your rubber a bit more.  Have a more open blade when hitting.  This will allow the rubber to wrap around the ball more and grip it.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
