Or is it good to be a backhander.

Hi Krishna,

It is OK to be a backhand dominant player.  If you are wanting to focus more on the forehand, start with altering your feet position.  Try getting your left foot a bit closer to the table than your right foot.  This will turn your body into a better position to make the forehand strokes.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.

I used to be like that too. What I did was to switch to penhold grip. That forced me to use forehand. Got used to it, then switched back to shakehand grip.

It can work.  It is however very difficult to do.
