Why can't i play a forehand topspin? I have tried it many times but i can't get the correct feeling to hit it in but my friend didn't even practice and he can do it suddenly. What should i do?

Hi Xain,

First of all it's important that everyone learns in different ways and at different rates. And also past experience with other sports and activities can help too. So don't be dismayed that your friend is able to do this but you haven't learnt it yet.

The most important aspects are the start and finish position. Watch our video on the forehand topspin and then practice the shot in front of a mirror (or film yourself), and do it slowly at first to ensure the bat starts in the correct position and then ends in the correct position. Once you are comfortable with this see if you can get a friend to throw you one ball at a time so you can practice against with a ball but not be worried about having to hit the ball in to keep the rally going. Again focus on the correct start and finish position and also focus on where the ball is going so you can make adjustments.

Give this a try and let me know how you progress. It is a difficult shot to learn so it will take same time. Keep going :)
