I have a robot and only play matches once a week. How could i practice watching the ball closely to improve my anticipation
Hi Thomas,
You could put the robot on to randomly oscillate. Then get them ball to feed out at a slow rate to start with and slowly increase the speed.
This isn't ideal but it is as good as you can get with a robot. It isn't ideal because you are watching the head of the robot for cues as to where the ball is going. In a real match situation you are picking up on cues of your opponents body to work out the direction.
Give it a go though and see if your anticipation gets better in a match.
In the match situations you need to ficus on the ball as closely as you can. This will give you a better chance to see the ball early and recognise cues.
