Is my bat too fast for my experience level

I've been using a Yasaka Sweden Extra with Mark V rubbers for the last 4 months or so. I've never had formal coaching, and I mostly play in the work place with other casual players. Most of what I've learned has been from this wonderful site. Without a coach to watch my form, I have no idea whether I'm using too fast a combo and hurting my development. Should I consider replacing one of the components, or even getting a slower overall bat? Thank you.

Hi Bradley,

It is difficult to tell without seeing you play but if you feel that you are not able to play your strokes fully then maybe it is too fast.Try just slowing down your strokes to start with and see if that helps.  Practice in a more controlled manner with the ball coming to you in a regular set up.  Then as you feel comfortable with that you can make it more challenging.

In general the set up you have I think is a good set up to learn with.

Choosing a Table Tennis Bat

Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.
