Hi Jonathan,

Entry would be through your National association.  You can contact them and ask them the process.  It will usually be by winning tournaments at a state and national level and then being selected in the team.

They do run a pennant competition. For the details you'll need to speak with the club though. It is a great experience to play in a pennant competition.

Hi Jonathan,

Good question. The best thing would be to get the phone number off the website and give them a call.

is that for juinors, seniors, or both? Oh, and how about my helth, wellness and table tennis question, does it have coaching on sundays?

The Vic Open is a tournament for everyone. It has graded events so you can enter a division that suits your standard. I believe Health Wellness and table tennis does have training on Sundays. I'll get Simon Gerada who runs the program to send you an email.

hi jeff

Can you enter tournaments even if you're a basic beginner? I have a good FH topspin and BH drive but my dad thinks it's not enough. he says that i should wait for next year and playat the vic open and i should have at least 3 years of proper training before i even enter any state matches and tournament. what d you think?

Hi Jonathan,

There are events at these tournaments for all levels of player. You can start off by playing in the lowest divisions. It can be good for players to enter competitions. As well as playing other people around your level, you can also watch some of the better players compete in the higher divisions. Having said that you should also listen to your Dad as he knows you better than everyone so I'd be taking his advice first.

Thanks Jonathan, you had mentioned that to us before.  I won't be able to make it down for that unfortunately.
