Serving

Hello Pingskills,

Joerg Rosskopf used a different grip for the pendulum serve. He had all his fingers spread out on the backhand side rubber. There is a instructional video on YouTube by him from the nineties. Is there someone else doing this grip nowadays? When I tried it, it felt pretty good. Above all, extremely stable. what are the disadvantages of it?

thanks

Marcin

Hi Marcin,

This is an acceptable grip.  It will restrict the movement in your wrist slightly because of the fingers being spread out however as you say you will feel like it has more control.  Just see what feels best for you.  I don’t know of any players that are using this at the moment.
