Hi Alois and Jeff ! I really love your work and the detailed explanations you give !! Thanks a million from India .. :)

I've been playing Table Tennis from a few years using Stiga Winner Blade with Mark V on both the sides. I would like to upgrade my gear. I'm more of a offensive FH player, good at looping the ball with a decent BH. I play close to the table and I'm a right hander. I have a few queries below :

1) Can you please suggest what blade and rubbers I can go for next? I was thinking of Butterfly Jonyer H II or Joola Falcon Fast+ for the blade. There is a Joola Falcon Fast available too. What is your take on these ?

2) For the rubbers, I was thinking of going for Tibhar 5Q for FH and Sriver for BH. Can you please suggest a good fast FH and a spinny control oriented rubber for BH ?

3) What is the speciality of Hinoki wood ? Any pros and cons ? Since the Jonyer one is a Hinoki wood. Also, how would the number of layers affect the game ? i.e 5 layers and 7 layers.

Hi Vinay,

Thanks for your kind words about the site.

We are not equipment experts at all.  I do like the Jonyer blades though.  I don’t know anything about the Joola Falcon.

I would go for the Jonyer blade with Mark V to start with.  Just transfer your rubbers onto the new blade.  Then you can think about upgrading the rubbers if that is still not fast enough.

We also have the PingSkills Touch blade which is a good option as an upgrade.  We offer it with Mark V as well.
