Hi, I noticed that when Zhang Jike blocks with his backhand he jumps a little. Is there a specific reason for this?

I don't think that he does always jump for each backhand. Sometimes when he is caught with a faster ball he jumps a little but when he is in good position he stays quite stable and down with his legs.

I think he is trying to get on top of the ball and give it a punch forward to increase the speed of the ball.

i have also noticed in womens matches during very fast counterhit rallies all over the table, they have a very slight n quick jump with each stroke they hit. any reason ?
The Chinese Women that play closer and faster do tend to play with feet closer together and jump a little during the shot.
