Hi, I noticed that when Zhang Jike blocks with his backhand he jumps a little. Is there a specific reason for this?

Hi Billy Bob,

I don't think that he does always jump for each backhand.  Sometimes when he is caught with a faster ball he jumps a little but when he is in good position he stays quite stable and down with his legs.

I think he is trying to get on top of the ball and give it a punch forward to increase the speed of the ball.

The Chinese Women that play closer and faster do tend to play with feet closer together and jump a little during the shot.
