Hi Alois,

I'm just curious. Is it helpful to watch lawn tennis such as the current Hopman Cup in Perth and the Australian Open? Would it help someone understand and learn better in pingpong? I'm asking because aside from pingpong, I'm also a big tennis fan. I especially enjoy the hopman cup's mixed doubles watching it in television here in the philippines. I also enjoy federer's play during the grand slams.

Also, are any of you guys planning to watch the Australian Open in the next two weeks? You guys are so lucky to be living near the venue of such big tennis tournaments.

Regards.

Hi Carlo,

I love watching the Tennis and seeing what the players are doing.  I think there are a lot of similarities between the two games.

I think the strategy of placement is easier to follow because you have more time to see it in Tennis.  Also the strategy of where they are serving and what areas of the court they are targeting is interesting to me.

I also like to watch the psychology of the match.  Again because the match goes over a longer period there are more ebbs and flows of emotion of the players.  More time to think about things for the players.  More time to tighten up and more time to work their way out of bad situations.

I will be watching a lot on television.  Jeff usually goes at least once to watch the matches.

I too love watching Federer play.  The ease of his strokes and his ability to watch the ball so well always amaze me.
